Sven joined the group in October 2015. He is working on mechanochemical syntheses of porous carbonaceous polymers and nanographenes. Other research interest of his, are in-situ characterization techniques for mechanochemical reactions and methane hydrate formation.

Johanna did her PhD in organic chemistry at the TU Wien (Austria) and joined the group in September 2024 as a postdoctoral fellow. She is working on transition metal mediated coupling reactions under direct mechanocatalysis.

Miriam joined the group in September 2016 in Dresden and rejoined the group in October 2019 in Bochum. She started her PhD in February 2021, continuing her work on electrochemical energy storage devices as well as mechanochemical reactions for supercap materials.

Marisol joined the group in November 2021. She is currently working on the development of new direct mechanocatalytic reactions. Focusing on the influence of the shape of the milling material as well as the mode of energy input.

Viviene joined the group in April 2020 for her bachelor's and master's thesis on mechanochemical synthesis by extrusion. She stayed with the group and is now continuing her work on reactive extrusion.

Tugce joined the group in September 2022 for her master's thesis. She stayed with the group and is now continuing her work on the investigation of mechanochemical reactions with Raman spectrometry.

Hari joined the group in September 2022 for his master's thesis on mechanochemical condensation reactions. He stayed with the group and is now working on understandnding media-free mechanochemical reactions.

 

Maike Mayer (M.SC.)

PhD student

Maike joined the group in April 2021 for her bachelor thesis on mechanochemical synthesis of small molecules via direct mechanocatalysis. She has recently finished her master thesis on the mechanochemical hydrogenation reactions and started her PhD in April 2024.

 

JOnathan Geisler (M.Ed.)

Research assistant

Jonathan joined the group in April 2021 for his bachelor thesis on the mechanochemical synthesis of microporous polymers. Now he is helping with synthesis and characterizations of porous materials and helping do develop new ways to engage teenagers with chemistry.

Pascal started his PhD in September 2024. He is currently working on mechanochemical synthesis and functionalization methods of different carbon materials.

Stephen joined the group for his bachelor's thesis about photo-mechanochemistry in June 2022. Now he is working on his master's thesis about the functionalization of milling material surfaces.

Dr. Mirian Elizabeth Casco

Alumni

Mirian joined the group in March 2017 as a prestigious Alexander-von-Humboldt fellow. She is working on mechanochemical syntheses and energy storage via methane hydrate. Since March 2019 she is at the UCU in Uruguay, where she is currently an Associate Professor.

Dr. Desiree Leistenschneider

Alumni

Desiree joined the group in January 2016. She was working on mechanochemical syntheses of porous carbons for supercapacitor applications. Desiree finished her PhD in January 2019 and moved on to Canada, where she is doing a Post-Doc on carbon materials. She is now a Liebig Fellow at the University of Jena.

Tina was part of the group from January 2016 to December 2018. She was working on nitrogen-doped carbons derived from renewable ressources and waste products as electrode materials for supercapacitors and Li-S batteries. She is now working at Heraeus.

Maike joined the group in July 2017. In her bachelor thesis she was working on mechanochemical syntheses of porous polymers. She has been working on the Scholl reaction of nanographenes and finished her master thesis on the topic of the Glaser-Coupling in early 2020.
